DR: Risk, As Parts Do Not Align Correctly

I bought this based on needing a home office desk, in the lower area of my new home. I wanted to be able to pick up the work laptop and move around, when needed. I started too put this desk together, and am not stopped as I try to figure out the alignment issue with the tops. The shorter L piece has a four inch gap from the longer desktop piece, if I play it a certain way. If I switch them around, then the curved piece is on the inside, while the sharper corner edges are facing out.
