We were not sure what to expect when we ordered this table. It is light weight and yet sturdy. Assembly was easy enough. We are pleased with the design of this table - we wanted an informal piece to contrast with more formal chairs in our home. As others have mentioned, assemble it in an area with ventilation and take it outside to air out for a day or so before using it. I don't know what chemicals are present but they small awful at first.
