Desk is heavier and more sturdy than I expected, I am picky about quality and bang for your buck and this desk doesn't disappoint. Assembled the desk ourselves using a downloaded instruction booklet off of Monarch's website since one was not included, wasn't a big deal and took us 3 hours to assemble at a laid back pace. Although we have this in a corner all angles no matter how you look at it are the wood grain pattern, could leave it in the middle of a room and still look good. Shelves are adjustable up and down to accommodate items of different height. Saw another review saying the drawer for hanging folders is not wide enough....because it holds LEGAL sized hanging folders longer than normal in a design meant to be facing you when looking into the drawer while sitting at desk, not a big deal since they can be found at common stores and here on Amazon. Desk is also made so that the drawers and protruding desktop can be switched to either side to fits your needs. Don't hesitate to purchase, I'm a picky person and have no complaints
