Nice lamp. First time I've had to assemble a lampshadeThis lamp suits my needs perfectly, so I'm pleased with the purchase. The base is good and heavy and the pole is sturdy. The pole mounts to the base at any horizontal angle--you have to line it up along the base diameter by eye. I would have preferred an assembly that fixes it at the correct angle. Like another reviewer, I used a socket wrench to attach the pole to the recessed hole in the base. I'm glad I didn't have to use the flat wrench that was included in the package. I was able to put it together on my own but I can see how a 2nd pair of hands might have been helpful. The weirdest part was having to assemble the shade see photo . Sending the shade unassembled simplifies packaging and might prevent damage in shipping but it was the trickiest part of the assembly--attaching the clips to the diffuser disk and wire top some required a lot of pressure , then lining up the velcro for a snug closure of the cloth cylinder, all while avoiding creases and smudges.
