Applewhite Minyard: Nice, well made statue

I have several statues from Toscano, all well made, but I paint all of them as they arrive with a ghostly grey color. This one was no exception, and I added some extra color because the statue seemed to demand it since the lady was covered with a garland of roses. I spray paint the basic statue and then, depending on the statue, either mask off part and spray a complementary color, such as a dress or hair, but in this case that would have been too difficult so I got out my acrylic paints and hand painted the roses, and while I was at it I painted her face and hands a skin color. I always expect to do something to Toscano sculptures unless they are pre-painted. Sometimes I just spray the entire sculpture, but I usually choose a paint with a texture to simulate stone.
