W. J.: Read this before you buy

For starters, this fan is cheap. Install is also a pain. I worked at Lowe s for around 8 years, and put together and hung probably 100 ceiling fans in that time. This one was one of the most needlessly complicated installations I ve ever dealt with. The instructions make you believe you can install it flush mount, but I couldn t figure out how. They instruct you to take steps for flush mount installation, but then the instructions switch right back over to a down rod mount procedure to hang the fan, so it makes no sense halfway through. I had to disassemble from there and use the down rod, which I wanted to avoid. Also, the fan blades are not ABS plastic like similar models, so I m not sure if they ll last more than a couple years. Once I installed it using the down rod, which I wanted to avoid , it worked fine - lights and fan. But it s still way overpriced for basically being an indoor fan that s marketed as an outdoor/damp location fan. I feel lied to by the description and I m not happy with how low the fan hangs. There s way better quality fans out there, and other models usually offer much simpler installations these days. Buyer beware
