Customer reviewsIt s okay...
For the most part this umbrella is great. We did screw the base into our wooden deck using the screw holes provided and then my husband added 2 more screw holes to each leg of the base for extra sturdiness. So far it has been pretty secure, but we have only had very mild breezes recently we did purchase 6 12x12 pavers to stack on top of the base if needed later . It was very easy to assemble and the size is great- covers a good portion of my deck. Love the color- although I would call it more of a teal than sky blue which kinda sucks because it doesn t match my patio furniture but we were due for new furniture next year anyway. Now the problems and IMO they are pretty big- almost sent the umbrella back if the box hadn t been destroyed. First- the pole comes in 2 main parts, a 3ft section that is attached to the base and then the larger section with the umbrella, we noticed that when completely open and in a slight breeze the bottom pole was rotating in the base, which eventually turned the umbrella about 180 . Each time it did this my husband went out and tried to tighten the 3ft pole into the base tighter, but it still slightly turns we re eventually going to put a screw through it to stop it . The 2nd major problem we ve had is when opening the umbrella there is a cone shaped piece attached to a plastic piece that goes into the umbrellas rib connection in the middle, as you crank it open these 3 pieces connect to keep the umbrella open, well after cranking it open/closed twice the cone came detached from the plastic piece it s connected to and just hangs at a weird angle on the string and since the umbrella won t lock into place correctly without all 3 pieces connected I have to get a stool and manually hold all 3 pieces in place while someone else cranks it open. This is obviously not an ideal situation. We put some gorilla glue around the cone and shoved it back into the plastic piece it s connected to- so far it has held up, but because of this problem the string that s feed through all 3 pieces has been frayed slightly due to the cone plastic connector rubbing against it when we first discovered the problem. Not sure if we can fix that if the string breaks.
